Named Tesco’s Organic Grower of the year 2012, Pollybell Organic Farms grow a variety of produce including broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, curly kale, bunched carrots, beetroot, leaks, onions and Swiss chard. This project required the extension of an existing cold storage facility of 688 square metres to a further 1,576 square metres, incorporating both additional storage facilities and a production/processing area.
The new extension blends in with the existing building, but was constructed with the most up-to-date levels of insulation and hygiene panelling. The building incorporates a raised loading dock to assist in the efficient loading of the refrigerated lorries. The facility allows produce to be brought direct from the fields, stored, processed and packaged before delivery to the supermarkets/end users.
